Put Your Winery or Golf Course On Google Earth

Back Roads Wine is building wineries and golf courses for Google Earth.

Google is rapidly becoming the 3-d search engine for the planet.

The buildings on Google Earth give customers the ability to see themselves in context with the rest of the world. A virtual experience is like going there in person. It's not like watching a movie, it's like making a movie. A model in Google Earth is as different as the person viewing it as one person can study architecture, a golfer can study terrain, a visitor can get driving instructions, a wine drinker can follow links to the up to date wine list, the restaurant visitor can follow links to the menu, the concert goer can follow links to the concert schedule and watch videos of past performances.

Another feature which is coming is the ability to follow golfers in real time as there are people with GPS devices following the golf pros so viewers can log in and see where their favorite player is. Golfers can also study details of the terrain and read data of individual fairways.

Finally, Google Earth is its own browser as it has links back to the original websites which currently populate the internet. Also, the businesses information can be linked from the model as well as pictures, driving directions, and videos of the site. The whole world is getting on Google Earth. What are you waiting for?

The first 3-D renderings of the Pleasanton Tri-Valley area are being made public today featuring the Wente Vineyards, Murietta's Well, Wente Golf and the Wente production facility on Tesla Rd. You can download the keyhole files from the links below.

You will need to download and install Google Earth if you haven't already done so on your computer. Be careful! Google Earth is extremely addictive!

Have fun!

I returned from the Naples Winter Wine Festival hoping to interview Napa vintners. As it was, I hadn’t received many replies. The one person I wanted to interview more than any was Dick Grace from Grace Family Vineyards http://www.gracefamilyvineyards.com/. I saw a phone number on my cell phone that I didn’t recognize. I pick it up and it’s Dick. He was his usual friendly self but made it very clear, “I’m extremely busy, how can I help you?” I know he is a generous man and is focused on helping the needy. I got right to the point. “Mr. Grace, I appreciate what you did for my hometown, and I remember when there was nothing there for the kids. I just want to tell your story and tell people about your charities.” He pauses for a moment and then agrees to a thirty minute interview. He reminds me to be on time and that it will be brief. I thanked him and got the address./span>

Mike Grgich has just completed fifty years of winemaking in the Napa valley after coming here from Croatia. Not only is he a hero to his fellow Croatians, he is a living American legend as he created the Chardonnay which won the Paris Tasting of 1976 earning an incredible 132 points, higher than any other wine in the competition. This "shot heard 'round the world" was chronicled in the book by George M. Taber "Judgment Of Paris" a must read for wine drinkers who want to know the truth about American wines.
